The Grove

A beautiful outdoor shopping and restaurant center in LA, connected to the Farmers Market

One of Los Angeles’s most famous shopping centers is The Grove. Mixing affordable and luxury retailers with restaurants and car dealerships, The Grove is home to one of LA’s nicest Apple Stores, outposts of everything from Blue Ribbon Sushi to The Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano’s, and plenty of mid-range to high-end clothiers.

Though some of these names may sound pedestrian, The Grove is a fascinating location for food obsessives. It’s connected to The Original Farmers Market, itself a collection of 100 largely culinary retailers, and very close to premium market Erewhon, known recently for its over-the-top (and not particularly good) smoothies. Famous pastry chef Dominique Ansel’s Dominique Ansel Bakery was formerly operating at The Grove, but regrettably closed during the pandemic.

Because of its proximity to the TV and film industries in Hollywood, the Grove also frequently hosts pop-ups that have ties to one or more of the major streaming services. Here, Apple TV+ hosted pop-ups giving away Ted Lasso’s secret recipe biscuits, along with a scoop of Earl Grey and Biscuit ice cream, with separate attractions for Pachinko, The After Party, and Severance. The Grove also hosts fashion retail pop-ups and holiday-themed displays at various times throughout the year.

As an outdoor shopping center, all of the businesses here are connected by shopping streets and paths without overhead coverage. Substantial parking areas serve The Grove and the Farmers Market separately, but can be strategically used to visit both places together.
