The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

In Las Vegas, a hotel built for foodies – and fans of beautiful modern design

Opened in December 2010, one year after Aria Resort & Casino, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas set itself apart from its already luxurious neighbors with even more incredible modern interior decor and the Las Vegas Strip’s best collection of restaurants. A non-trivial part of its nearly $4 billion budget covered a lobby with magnificent exotic plant displays on video screens, two first-floor bars named for James Bond characters, and a multi-story Chandelier Bar adorned with strings of crystals.

Nearly 15 years later, the majority of these elements remain intact at The Cosmopolitan, though the “Bond” bar has closed, leaving the lobby-adjacent Vesper Bar as a darker, sexier alternative. In its place, an actual functioning barber shop doubles as a speakeasy and live music venue.

The Cosmopolitan also recruited brilliant culinary partners, most notably chef José Andrés, to launch world-class restaurants above and around its casino: Jaleo, China Poblano, and é by José Andrés – named the city’s best hotel restaurant – remain huge draws. David Chang-backed Momofuku Las Vegas and Milk Bar still have three worthwhile spaces inside, too, including Bāng Bar by Momofuku in the hotel’s Block 16 food hall.

There’s no better place in Vegas for foodies to spend money: No matter which place you pick here, you’re guaranteed to win big, even in this famously risky city.
