As the home art gallery for Obey Giant’s Shepard Fairey, Los Angeles’s Subliminal Projects is inside Studio Number One in Los Angeles, down the street from Dodger Stadium. Subliminal Projects typically hosts roughly 90-day-long exhibitions focused on protest, dissent, street art, and/or social messaging, including both solo and group shows, more often the latter. The space also hosts live events with featured artists, typically on a Friday evening ahead of the official opening of their exhibitions.
Admission is free, and a small store in the back of the gallery sells Fairey’s work and items related to the current exhibition, as well as giving away individual Obey Giant stickers. Parking can be extremely challenging in the immediate area, and may require several blocks of walking.
