Over 500 feet wide and 36 stories tall, the Sphere became an iconic landmark the moment it turned on its rounded 580,000-square foot exterior display surface next to the Las Vegas Strip. Bright enough to be easily seen during the day or night, the Sphere’s outer screen cycles between public art, cartoony attention-grabbers, promotions for Sphere events, and advertisements for brands. At any given time, the Sphere may display videos of jellyfish, Refik Anadol AI art, a cartoony face that appears to be looking up at the sky, or ads for upcoming events.
Inside the Sphere are nearly 19,000 seats – most accessible via escalators – as well as a separate spherical, high-resolution display. The venue spends most of each day hosting “the Sphere Experience,” which lets guests interact with a lobby full of robots, see holograms, then sit for the 55-minute-long Postcard from Earth, a film shot specifically for the venue. Tickets for this Experience range from $100 to $300 per person, depending on the specific seats selected. Live concerts featuring temporary residencies such as U2 and The Eagles are held on many evenings, with tickets in the $300 to $2,000 range per person.
