Seoul Tang & Noodle

In Buena Park, experience Korean-style beef tartare and spicy cockles at The Source

Trying to choose just one restaurant per visit to Buena Park’s The Source can be really challenging given the incredible array of experiences spread across the multi-level, substantially Korean dining and shopping mall. Our friendly advice is to sample several different restaurants on a visit, especially if you’re thinking of grabbing something from one or both of the two food courts.

Seoul Tang and Noodle is the primary reason we suggest this. Its menu has only 13 items, including things non-adventurous diners mightn’t commit to eating as a full meal: cockles and beef tartare, to name a couple. There are other, far more common choices as well (including beef rib soup and bulgogi rice bowls), but did you really come all the way to The Source for the basics?

We obviously went for the more unique items. And we didn’t regret doing so, at all – they were winners on both taste and novelty.

The Beef Tartare Bibimbap lets you add a plate of pre-sliced raw beef to the sprouts and rice yourself; Cockle Spicy Noodles also includes hot peppers, sesame seeds, and scallions. While we loved both of them enough to order either one again, we particularly enjoyed the cockles’ mussel-like texture and strong spice level; the opportunity to try beef tartare is similarly rare (no pun), but the flavor is intentionally more neutral.

If you order both of these items together, that might be enough for a meal; we’d recommend drinks at nearby TBaar or Ding Tea. Try only one entree here, or share both with someone special, and you’ll have room to explore other nearby options – consider sushi at Ocean Snack, and/or donuts at Yozm Donuts. The Source’s greatest strength is convenient access to all of these great options, so choose your own adventure, and enjoy it.
