Rodeo River Street

San Juan Capistrano gets a smaller version of Stanton's famously diverse food hall

Fully open as of February 2025, Rodeo River Street is a (considerably) smaller version of Stanton’s Rodeo 39 Public Market, bringing a hallway-length collection of 10 small food and drink vendors to San Juan Capistrano’s River Street Marketplace. The initial collection includes Hawaiian plates from Shootz, Kozan Tea House, Pastalia Pasta Fresco, Bred Hot Chicken, KebabCraft, Nom Bowls & Rolls, Hudson Cookies, the Sushi Stand, Capas Tacos, and Paranas Empanadas. Notably, Capas also provides the food for River Street Marketplace’s craft brewery and cocktail space Capo, which has its own indoor and outdoor seating areas next to the Rodeo building.

We loved the flavors of the (small) Argentinian spicy beef and pumpkin empanadas we tried at Paranas, and enjoyed two of the three drinks we ordered at Kozan; that said, we haven’t been motivated to revisit and try more vendors, despite loving the choices at Rodeo 39. Additionally, navigating its single central corridor can get a little tricky once people start flowing in, and its shared paid parking lot with the Marketplace is similarly congested during peak hours. Thankfully, it’s within walking distance of other parking lots, as well as Mission San Juan Capistrano, Heritage Barbecue, and Mayfield.
