Port of Long Beach

America's second-busiest port handles ~1/5 of its port-bound containers, worth $200 billion annually

Photos from the Port of Long Beach in Long Beach, California – a visually stunning and critically important part of America’s commercial transportation infrastructure. As the second-busiest port in the country, adjacent to the separately managed Port of Los Angeles, this port handles approximately $200 billion in cargo annually, shipped in over 9 million cargo containers. That represents nearly one-fifth of all containers moving through U.S. ports.

Tour boats enable passengers to see the port, which is home to massive commercial ships, the long-docked Queen Mary, and nearby attractions including the Aquarium of the Pacific, a shopping mall, and national chain restaurants. Many vehicles bound for U.S. customers – especially Japanese and Korean brands – arrive at Long Beach through the port before being driven to dealerships across California and the country.
