Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA)

Explore painted, three-dimensional, and digital works from Latin American contemporary artists

Just north of Orange County in Long Beach, the Museum of Latin American Art offers a really nice single-floor collection of several galleries, an indoor event space, and a sculpture garden surrounding an outdoor stage, plus a small but well-curated gift shop. On our most recent visit, one major exhibition spotlighted the intersection of art, science, and technology as explored by artists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Peru – largely three-dimensional objects with electronic components – while another featured an indigenous Brazilian’s masonry-inspired paintings, structures, and photography, and a third showed off the private art collection (largely paintings) of the Zapanta family.

Easily accessible with free parking, MOLAA is worthy of an hour or so of self-guided exploration; admission is free on Sundays, and docents are available during early weekend afternoons to offer free tours of the collections – questions encouraged.
