Mr. French Crepe

Visitors to Paris often return with happy memories of walking the city streets and discovering creperies serving freshly made, hot crepes with Nutella, fresh fruits, cream, or savory ingredients – an experience that’s hard to find when returning home, but under the best conditions can be specially sought out. In Orange County, Mr. French Crepe has duplicated the Parisian experience for years: Initially at a booth inside Wholesome Choice, then at a standalone kiosk at the Brea Mall, and now unexpectedly inside Little France Bakery in Newport Beach.

At his booth next to the cash registers at Wholesome Choice, the authentic Parisian creperie and fresh juice stand became an almost must-visit for those items when we visited the supermarket, thanks to the operator’s (Camile’s) friendly service, authentic crepe recipe and store-aided access to plenty of Nutella, and uncommonly outstanding drinks made with market produce. For around $12 per crepe, sweet choices included banana/Nutella, apple or peach with vanilla ice cream, strawberries/syrup, orange/Grand Marnier, PB&J, lemon/sugar, and chestnut paste/sugar; savory items ranged from eggs to turkey, albacore tuna, cheeses, and vegetables.
