Furai Chicken

From humble beginnings inside the mini food court at Zion Market to three locations across Orange County, Furai Chicken is undeniably one of the region’s strongest Korean fried chicken chains as measured by quality. Between the size of its wings, the crispiness of its batter, and selection of sauces, there’s very little room for complaint, and plenty of opportunity for pleasant surprises.

At early Korean fried chicken restaurants, sauce choices were limited to two – soy garlic and spicy – before splitting off into others. Furai joined the fray in 2017, as sauce options were expanding at new chains, and offers spicy-smoky kang jung, hot Buffalo, sweet and spicy, “fire,” and powdered wings including garlic parmesan, ghost pepper, cheddar, and curry flavors. One particularly excellent option, spicy BBQ sauce, was especially addictive but quickly caused the crispy breading to soften, so customers had to plan to eat quickly (too quickly) after receiving it. To avoid that issue, there are now BBQ and Buffalo powders in addition to traditional sauces, so you can choose an option that travels better.
