Dough & Arrow

Cute drinks and novel cookies are searching for a new home

From 2017 to 2024, Dough & Arrow sold fun cookies from a shop in Costa Mesa, focusing on flavors that were unique largely due to their toppings. Torch-finished creme brulee, strawberry pie, guava macadamia nut, and peanut butter and jelly were just a few examples, alongside funfetti and a grown-up chocolate cookie with espresso and dark chocolate chips. Cookie prices eventually climbed to the $5 range, with discounts on multi-cookie purchases.

Drinks included several options each of coffees, teas, and lemonades, with seasonal specialty flavors, and occasionally custom-branded plastic containers shaped like milk cartons or eggs. At various points, they also sold edible cookie dough, ube-dripped croissants, and brownie cookies (brookies), though the former two disappeared midway through their run.

Following some interesting collaborations, including a Lunar New Year pineapple cake cookie with food influencer Jasmine Pak, Dough & Arrow closed the Costa Mesa shop in 2024, and says it is working on a new location. It shifted to serving at pop-ups, notably at the Balboa Island Baking Company, which specializes in cinnamon rolls.
