Dot & Dough

With LA roots, Rodeo 39's now shuttered original donut shop may or may not still exist in Brea

Opened inside Rodeo 39 Public Market back in 2020 following a Monterey Park launch in 2019, the small Dot & Dough chain offered regular and mochi donuts for years in Stanton before closing in 2024. Specialties included Portuguese/Hawaiian malasadas, either sugar/cinnamon-topped or filled with creams (matcha, vanilla, taro, and others), mochi donuts with the same fillings, and mochi donuts glazed with anything from cereal to cookies or Hot Cheetos. Eye-catching “Homer” donuts looked just like the ones famously enjoyed by the Simpsons’ dad, down to the sprinkles.

After occupying a small and frequently underattended space in Rodeo 39, Dot & Dough’s status in Orange County has become uncertain. Additional shops across Los Angeles have opened and mostly closed in recent years, while a relatively young Brea store is at time of writing at least temporarily closed as well.
