Armav

Armenian and Mediterranean favorites in Pacific Palisades

Great hospitality and nice Armenian analogues to well-known Mediterranean dishes are highlights at Armav, located in LA’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Their eponymous sampler platter overflows with five dips, olives, dates, vegetarian grape leaf dolmas, feta, pita slices and while the chicken schwarma – even when split into separate dishes with their own pitas, one folded and eaten by hand, the other with silverware – is enough for two people.

In addition to the falafel, try the rumaki, Armav’s take on the classic “sounds Polynesian but isn’t really” hors’d oeuvre, and the sweet cheese/shredded phyllo dessert kadiff (aka kadaif). Skip the paklava, a generous portion of buttery but hard to cut and underhoneyed baklava. There are much better ways to spend your calories here.
