Aria Resort & Casino Las Vegas
Since its opening, this Las Vegas casino has celebrated modern design and luxury
In 2019, Aria Resort & Casino opened In Las Vegas, kicking off the Strip’s evolution into an even higher-end shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. The silver metal-clad hotel with large glass windows became part of a newly iconic collection of CityCenter destinations, including the ultra-luxurious Shops at Crystals mall and Vdara, a casino-less hotel and condominium complex. From an on-site monorail to gigantic art installations featuring colorful canoes – and an adjacent gallery that once featured oversized Dale Chihuly pieces – the area looked like the future had arrived, truly a sight to behold.
Though Aria discontinued a beautiful fountain that cascaded water over its walls, many of its early design touches and attractions remain, including a stunningly decorated outpost of Orange County’s Javier’s Cantina and numerous bars. Others are newer, including a Din Tai Fung dumpling restaurant right next to the casino floor, the seafood and sushi restaurant Catch, and the young food hall Proper Eats upstairs.
Proper Eats includes some interesting spaces, ranging from a British-Korean chicken sandwich place (Seoul Bird) to a Steve Aoki pizza joint, Pizzaoki. A Portland-based Israeli shwarma spot, Shalom Y’all, disappeared after a year and a half.
Dining destinations even continue outside, where L.A.’s organic Mexican restaurant Toca Madera replaced Todd English PUB at the walkway to Crystals, which now has two José Andrés restaurants – Bazaar Mar and Bar Centro – in addition to three more at The Cosmopolitan. Staying at the Aria provides easy access to all these destinations, as well as the nearby Park MGM / NoMad hotel and its own culinary attractions, including Eataly Las Vegas and Best Friend.
