Sip Coffee + Goods

Opened in December 2024, Fountain Valley’s Sip Coffee + Goods was remarkably busy when we visited in early January: Less than an hour before closing for the day, guests were still spilling out from Sip’s small seating area onto the plaza’s sidewalk, many using a sign’s QR code to peruse the menu of coffee and tea drinks on their phones. To our surprise – and perhaps because online ordering wasn’t an option – the line moved quickly, thanks to a team of baristas working efficiently behind the counter.

Our group of three struggled to pick just one drink per person from Sip’s short but surprisingly compelling list, initially focusing on drinks based on Girl Scout cookies. Sip was able to make a coffee with syrups based on Caramel De-Lite flavors and an actual toasted coconut-caramel cookie, but was out of stock on the other, a Thin Mint Matcha tea drink advertised on the QR code menu. We opted for a Strawberry Matcha instead, receiving a drink topped with a strawberry Pocky cookie stick and a slice of dried strawberry. Both of these drinks were good – not more than the sum of their flavors, but good – though their medium-sized cups were filled with plenty of similarly medium-sized ice cubes.
