This long-gestating Kei Concepts cafe aims to bring Asian drinking cultures together
Having already demonstrated its prowess with everything from upscale Vietnamese to pan-Asian fine dining and Italian-Japanese fusion, Kei Concepts just opened its latest long-gestating venture: a gourmet coffee shop. Kei Coffee House has been slowly evolving from soft opening since summer 2024, expanding its hours and menu items week by week.
From orange jam-enhanced Thai tea to melon espresso tonics and matcha toffee drinks, Kei Coffee House canvasses and expands upon regional beverage recipes with pretty much uniform success. As of late 2024, Kei is also offering seasonal drinks including a butterscotch latte, spiced apple latte, and orange mocha – the latter particularly terrific.
Excellent pastries by Gem Dining’s former pastry chef include ideally flaky almond croissants, delicate chocolate croissants, chunky chocolate cookies, and savory beef pate chaud buns.
Even after several months in business, you can expect both long lines and typically friendly Kei service – now with the benefit of much faster drink preparation that keeps the lines moving quickly. The dining area, larger than many coffee shops, is also likely to be both closer to full and noisier than most.
