Asian Garden Mall – Phuoc Loc Tho

One of Little Saigon's iconic destinations for festivals and night markets, especially in summer

While Westminster’s Asian Garden Mall (Phuoc Loc Tho) is best known for what’s inside – and billed as the largest majority Vietnamese-owned and -operated mall in America – we most often see it from the outside, as the front courtyard alternates between hosting festivals (including the Flower Festival) and the Little Saigon Night Market.

Running for two weeks across late January and/or early February (depending on lunar cycles), the Flower Festival offered new year decorations, toys, and snacks, including multi-flavored coconut candies and jerkies, a wide array of fruits, and tons of colorful flowers. It’s a very small festival for foodies, but fun to visit if you’re in the neighborhood at the right time. By contrast, the summertime Night Market is almost exclusively food-focused, with roughly two dozen vendors selling grilled meats and seafood, drinks, ice cream, and Central Vietnamese delicacies.

The mall includes roughly 100 stores, though the actual number at any given time is hard to pin down – many small jewelry stores and repair shops have smaller footprints inside other businesses, collectively accounting for at least half if not two-thirds of the mall’s tenants. Others include clothing stores, traditional medicine shops, bakeries and restaurants, including a nice food court-sized collection of counter-style vendors of Vietnamese specialties ranging from spring rolls and soups to snails, as well as Chinese dim sum, and Japanese convenience store snacks and drinks.
